Writing for the web is a different skill, and I’ve been doing it since 1997. People read differently online and keywords are critical for search engines, but keyword-heavy text can be clunky. Not with me. Grammar and spelling need to be correct for the best possible SEO, too.
I help with all types of online content, from writing website text – I do the decorating; the web designer is the architect – to building a social media presence.
Social media is increasingly important for businesses.
I can help to establish your presence in the right way, though I believe that actually using social media once established is something best not delegated: it loses immediacy.
But there are pitfalls, and I can advise on how these should be avoided. For example, one small business owner’s political views slipped into her company’s Twitter feed. That didn’t just lose her business; it stirred up a raucous public debate which could easily have been avoided.
Blogs are different.
Tying a blog into a website allows customers to feel they know you and your business; it’s also a great way to keep everyone up to date. Blogs can be time consuming, and one last used in 2012 does no favours. I can work closely with a business to produce an entertaining blog which boosts the customer relationship.
